2024 – 2025 Tiger Youth Basketball Online Registration
The Tiger Youth Basketball Organization is accepting signups for the 2024 recreational and travel basketball season. The program is open to all boys and girls in grades 3-6. Prior competitive basketball experience is not required nor is it essential.
- The program will run for six straight weeks from Sunday, Nov. 3rd to Sunday, Dec. 1st. Skills and drills camps and/or games will be held every Sunday and at least one additional practice will be held during the week. Time and day of the midweek practice is to be determined and may change from week to week depending upon gym availability.
- The format of the Rec League is a variation of skills and drills mini-camps, regular practices and team play within age groups.
- Boys teams will do the mini camps and practices from 1-3pm and girls will go 3-5pm on Sunday afternoons during the Rec season.
In January, the TYBO travel basketball season begins. This is a tryout-based program similar to junior high basketball with weekend travel required. Teams for boys and girls (3rd-6th grades) are selected from the rec program participants. Our teams will compete in the Tri-County Youth League and in the Ross County YMCA league.
- The rec program serves as an open tryout for those children who wish to play for a travel team. Only rec program participants may play on a travel team. Travel athletes may not participate in any other basketball program or league that occurs simultaneously with TYBO programs.
- Invitation to participate in travel ball is based primarily on each child’s performance during the rec program. A child’s performance is rooted in these areas: Skillset, effort and attitude, overall behavior and “coachability”.
- Invitation to participate in travel ball will also be based on performance and behavior in school. Student athletes must exhibit appropriate behavior in school and must maintain satisfactory grades.
- Basketball shoes are required. Coaches may opt for their teams to use a “team shoe”. In that situation, all efforts will be made to choose an affordable shoe. Coaches will communicate directly with their team parents on those issues.
- There is no fee to participate in travel ball. Uniforms, insurance and other player related costs are paid for by TYBO.
- All home and away TCYL games have spectator fees. Ross County YMCA games do not have spectator fees.
- At the conclusion of the competitive-play season, TYBO’s TCYL teams will play in a weekend-long, invitational tournament, The McDonald’s Classic, at McClain (Feb 17-23, 2025).
- All parents/guardians of travel-ball athletes will be asked to work at least once in the concessions stand (during home games). A typical volunteer shift is for the game preceding or following your own child’s game. Volunteer staffing is critical to the TYBO mission as it helps generate revenue for giveback projects which benefit all basketball players in the community.
- If you have any questions please email tigeryouthbball@gmail.com or call 937-876-9698
Parental Code of Conduct:
Just like a classroom, our gymnasiums are learning environments for children. In these settings we teach basketball, selflessness, the value of teamwork, the value of preparation and dedication, conflict resolution, etc.
At our events, adults are expected to understand that they are there as positive, supportive spectators.
Anyone who verbally berates coaches or referees, coaches their child from the stands, criticizes children or engages in verbal altercations with other spectators will be asked to leave the premises, at both “home and away” games/events. Any spectator who is ejected from a game, (home or away), by a referee, TYBO official or school administrator will be placed on a minimum one-week suspension from any/all TYBO events. Any form of violence, verbal threats or especially egregious behavior may result in a season-long or permanent ban from TYBO events.
Player Code of Conduct:
The Tiger Youth Basketball Organization promotes good conduct by all participants. TYBO participants will respect all players, coaches, referees, parents and spectators. Players will also:
- Show respect for the school facilities.
- Work with a positive attitude and always give 100% effort.
- Learn and play by the rules of the game. Play hard but play fair.
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship. Recognize and applaud good play by your teammates and opponents.
- Never laugh at or scold a teammate. Learn to win with dignity and lose with grace.
- Be committed to the team. Attend all practices and games. Support your teammates. Recognize their hard work.
- Listen intently to coaches. When a coach is speaking, players will stand still, remain quiet with eyes focused on the coach.
- Respect referees by politely accepting their decisions. Never talk back to or complain to an official.
- Respect coaches by valuing and appreciating their instruction and hard work.
- Be grateful and show appreciation for the opportunity provided to them by parents, volunteers and the school district.
- Encourage your teammates to honor the Player Code of Conduct.
Parents/guardians are expected to help their child understand and honor these commitments as a player in the TYBO program. Although activities occur during off-hours, all school policies, rules and possibilities for discipline apply. In the case of severe infractions, engaging in violence, bullying or destruction of school property, players may be dismissed from the TYBO program. In addition, any parent, guardian or spectator may be asked to leave an event and be barred from future attendance at the sole discretion of the TYBO Board of Directors.
